The 3 Main Factors That Drive Window Replacement Costs

When it comes to a window replacement, there are many factors and considerations that go into the decision-making process. But aside from which window and siding contractors you are going to work with, there is probably none more important than the actual cost of installing your new windows. After all, replacement windows don’t come cheap. In the U.S., the national average for replacing a single window is between $150 to $750. In today’s post, your good friends over at Triangle Home Exteriors shares the three major factors that affect the price of a window replacement.

1. Type of Window

This may go without saying but not all windows cost the same. In today’s market, there is a multitude of styles to choose from and, of course, some types are more expensive than others. For example, bow and bay windows will always be more expensive than casement or awning windows since they are made up of smaller windows and are more complicated to install.

2. Type of Glass

The more panes your window has, the more expensive they will be. Despite the added cost, most home exterior remodeling companies recommend getting new windows with at least two panes of glass. They may cost more upfront, but they are very energy efficient making them a worthy investment.

3. Type of Installation

When it comes to a window replacement, there are two types of installations: insert and full-frame. Insert installation will only involve replacing the window itself. A full-frame installation, on the other hand, will involve replacing the entire window including the frame itself. Because full-frame installations are more labor-intensive, they inevitably cost more.
