The HardieZone® System: What You Should Know

Most home exterior remodeling companies know the advantages of James Hardie® siding material. Over 5.5 million homes have James Hardie siding products. The low-maintenance durability of this manufacturer’s fiber-cement siding is unrivaled in the industry.

With products that are Engineered for Climate®, James Hardie developed the HardieZone® System, which ensures whatever siding a homeowner buys is engineered for the climate where it will be installed. The performance attributes of each type of siding based on the HardieZone System are specific to the requirements of your location.

HZ5®

The HZ5 product line is specifically designed to perform better in freezing temperatures. Engineered for snow and ice, HZ5 products are effective in resisting damage brought about by moisture in areas where extreme seasonal temperature variations and year-round precipitation is the norm. These products have superior paint adhesion and are equipped with a drip edge for better water management. They will not have problems with dimensional stability even when the weather conditions are extremely challenging.

HZ5 products include shingle, lap, panel, trim, soffit, and fascia. These are non-combustible and come with a 30-year limited, transferable warranty.

HZ10®

For homes located in sun-baked areas prone to heavy rainfall and hurricane-force winds, James Hardie-certified siding contractors offer the HZ10 product line under the HardieZone System. These products are perfect for coastlines, as they can resist the corrosive effects of salty sea air. They are sturdy enough to withstand the high-humidity heat of the Deep South. With HZ10 products, you don’t have to worry about cracking, rotting, swelling, or splitting when the weather is extremely hot and humid, even during tropical storms.

HZ10 products don’t fade, thanks to James Hardie’s ColorPlus® Technology. You can get HZ10 lap, shingle, fascia, panel, trim and soffit. These are resistant to flame spread and come with a limited 30-year, transferable warranty.
